Brown also makes an excellent backdrop for jewellery. There is no need to stay automatically within the same earthy palette. Brown can take on an entirely different character when paired with blue, turquoise, green or purple, while golden tones add even more warmth.
Which shades of red are in fashion now?
Wine red and burgundy have not disappeared from the autumn colour palette either. Alongside them, we are seeing deep brown-based reds, mahogany shades and brighter reds.
Among Pantone's colours for the season, Red Mahogany sits intriguingly between red and brown. Burgundy, plum and other deep reds continue to appear throughout fashion collections as well.
What makes red particularly interesting this autumn is what is being placed next to it. Instead of sticking to familiar black, brown and neutrals, red is being paired with bolder colours. One of the combinations appearing this season is red with purple.
Which shades of green are in fashion now?
There is certainly no need to choose just one kind of green for autumn 2026.
Familiar muted and olive-based greens are present, but so are fresher shades. Pantone's autumn palette includes, for example, the deeper Burnt Olive, brighter Green Envy and blue-toned Neptune Green.
It is precisely this versatility that makes green so interesting for jewellery too. Forest and olive greens pair naturally with gold, brown tones and many gemstones, while fresher greens can easily hold their own alongside surprisingly strong colours.
Green and yellow combinations, for example, are appearing in autumn 2026 fashion – a reminder that autumn dressing does not have to mean an exclusively dark and subdued colour palette.
Is purple in fashion for autumn 2026?
Yes – purple continues its rise in autumn 2026.
Deep plum and aubergine shades seem almost made for autumn, but brighter versions of purple are appearing too. Particularly interesting is the combination of purple and red: two strong colours that may not be the first pairing that comes to mind.

If you already own brown, green, burgundy or purple, those clothes have not suddenly become the wrong colour simply because the calendar has moved on – or because a familiar shade has been given a new, trendier name.
Sometimes the most interesting change comes from pairing a familiar piece of clothing with a different colour – or adding a piece of jewellery that takes the whole look in a new direction.
What jewellery is in fashion for autumn 2026?
While jewellery trends in recent years have at times favoured very small and understated pieces, attention has recently been turning back towards bolder designs – and this shift is particularly visible in autumn 2026.
Runways have featured large necklaces, statement earrings, sculptural forms, beads and individual pieces that are not intended to disappear into an outfit. Instead of layering several tiny pieces together, one strong piece can take centre stage.
It is a trend I rather like.
